About
Liliana Oliveira is a Portuguese multidisciplinary artist, born in Porto and based in Lisbon.
With a background in Architecture from Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), her practice is informed by a strong sensitivity to composition, form and space.
Moving between figuration and abstraction, her work explores the relationship between emotion and image. The human figure, particularly the female figure, often becomes a territory for investigating identity, sensuality, vulnerability and inner experience.
Through colour, texture and symbolism, Liliana creates immersive spaces where reality and imagination intersect.
My pratice
Creating has always been part of my nature. From an early age, art became a way of giving form to what I could not always put into words.
My first references came from the people and places that shaped my childhood. In my father’s workshop, I discovered the pleasure of building, transforming and working with materials. From my grandmother, I learned to embroider and to appreciate the delicacy of the handmade gesture. These experiences continue to inform my fascination with matter, texture and the creative process.
I am drawn to experimentation and to the dialogue between colour, materials and textures. Nature, animals and the human figure are recurring sources of inspiration, through which I explore emotion, memory and inner states.
My work moves between figuration and abstraction, between reality and imagination. At its core is an ongoing search for the connection between emotion and image — an open space where intuition, material and meaning come together.
